“You are worth dying for.”

May 2026 UPDATE

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

As of April 15, I have officially been back in Indonesia for one full year. Thank you so much for your continued prayers, encouragement, and financial support. It is truly such a privilege to serve here in Yogyakarta and to witness all that God is doing among university students.

First, a confession: I am long overdue in sending this ministry update, and I apologize for that. Life and ministry have been incredibly busy recently.

Good Friday / Easter

Last month, we had 85 students join us for Chi Alpha on Good Friday. A large majority of these students still hold to traditional Muslim beliefs, but many are open to conversations about Christianity and curious to learn more about Jesus.

We have recently been in a series on identity, and on Good Friday, I spoke on the theme, “You are worth dying for.” One of the most encouraging things afterward was hearing several students say how deeply loved and valued they felt hearing that message, even if they disagreed religiously.

On Easter Sunday, we invited all our Chi Alpha students to join us for a pancake breakfast and an Easter celebration. In total, 165 people attended, the largest event that we have ever hosted in our building.

After the service concluded, people stayed for hours talking, laughing, and enjoying fellowship together. One of our Muslim students commented that this is the best community he has ever experienced anywhere.

Special Guests

I recently had two very special visitors here in Indonesia: my parents. They have been serving as AGWM workers in the Eurasia region and were temporarily evacuated due to the ongoing conflict there, so I invited them to come and spend a few days here.

It was incredibly meaningful for them to rest for a few days and witness firsthand what God is doing among students in Indonesia. They have since returned home to Eurasia, and I would greatly appreciate your continued prayers for their safety and ministry.

Recent & Upcoming Travel

This past weekend, I was invited to travel to another city about an hour east of here to teach a session at a local Bible school. I was asked to teach on the Great Commission, unreached people groups, and creative ministry methods. Later that same day, I also preached an afternoon service about living on mission and the importance of a personal relationship with God.

At the end of this month, I will be traveling to another island near Singapore to speak with a group of Chi Alpha leaders as we discuss strategy for reaching university campuses across Indonesia.

Prayer Requests / Urgent Needs

On behalf of our whole team, we would appreciate prayer for a few ongoing challenges and needs.

Over the past few months, our ministry center has recently experienced damage from flooding, mold issues, and even two direct lightning strikes, resulting in damaged media equipment. We are praying for wisdom as we navigate repairs and future planning. If you would like to know specific equipment and ministry needs that you can help support, click here.

Please also be praying for one of our teammates and her family after the recent passing of her father, who faithfully pastored a church in northern Java for 30 years.

Finally, I am excited to share that I am prayerfully considering the possibility of extending my ministry term here through the Spring of 2028. Nothing is official yet, but I would deeply appreciate your prayers for wisdom as I consider that decision.

Thank you once again for your prayers and partnership in all that God is doing here in Indonesia. Your support truly makes this ministry possible.

Terima kasih banyak! / Thank you very much!
